My tribemate's letter to the judge

This is one of the hardest things I ever had to do; the hardest was losing not only my sister or best friend, MY TWIN. I was born a twin, those that are a singleton would never understand. For 26 yrs.’ it was Rosie and I, We learned how to do everything together, we were there for each other through thick and thin, You not only killed her, you took a part of me. It has been 23 years since you have murdered my twin Rose Marie Woolwine, I have suffered trying to find something to fill this emptiness, I have found out Through Twinless Twins that I will never be able to fill this emptiness, it belongs to Rosie. I will continue throughout my life feeling empty and lost.
What are the ramifications for a surviving twin?
There is a great deal of speculation about the psychological and emotional impact of losing a Twin. Due to a deep longing for some undefined, missing part of themselves ,it seems no mate can quite fulfill, single twins (the survivor) may experience problems with:.... relationships …. often suffer from unreasonable feelings of responsibility or guilt.... may experience troubling, recurring dreams of their twin.... fear of sleeping alone.... fears of sudden loss or abandonment.... profound loneliness.... eating disorders....“hearing voices”.... extreme emotional sensitivity.... even schizophrenia or multiple personality disorder
Many are strongly affected by this loss and find that their family and acquaintances cannot fully grasp the depth of that feeling of loss. Looking back I have fought against this feeling by endeavoring to be "much more than half" - and this feeling never leaves me. For some people this may sound queer, but I have heard this time and again from other twins, If you ask me what is the difference between losing a twin and losing a sister or a brother, I can only answer that of course we who are twins never tried anything else, So without belittling the loss of a sister or brother, because I know full well that this can be hard enough for some people, the difference seems to be that twins have been together from the very moment of conception. Ever since I lost my sister I have always felt in some way, that I was but "a half" This loss is something that will last for the rest of my life and there will be moments, when it will feel tougher than at other times, but every day I will feel lost. We were able to think about each other, we felt each other’s pain, fear, happiness, joy, and love from miles away, since the day we were conceived.
The day that you kidnapped Rosie, I felt fear, scarred and I was frantic trying to reach to her, when you shot her, you shot me, When the bullet went through her head, I felt the bullet go through mine, When she took her last breath, I felt her take that last breath, and then I felt the emptiness, and that’s when I knew she was gone. I will never feel her again.
Not one day goes by without thinking of my twin…….. Rose Marie Woolwine….the emotional strain I face every day is what I will do without control for the rest of my life..
Please understand that being a twin is a lifetime & the bond that you have with your twin will affect me for the rest of my life
It has & is changing my life painfully; it has been & will be as I walk thru life physically with out my twin Rose Marie Woolwine..

Frontier Women

Frontier women save money by producing their own soap with fireplace ashes and pig fat, or lard. They create lye by passing water over the ashes, leaching out the caustic cleaning agent. Once the lye is sufficiently powerful -- some say when an egg floats atop it -- they combine it with pails of lard, boil, stir, skim off the top layer and allow it to harden before cutting it into useable pieces.

Homemade red wine vinegar

There are some very in depth posts about this a year or two ago. I make all different kinds of vinegars. I have around 20 varieties going right now. It is a long term process and you should expect to wait a few months for your first batch to be ready. Also, just like with cooking wines. The vinegar will only be as good as the ingredients you start with. If you use a corked wine it will be ruined since a corked wine is lousy tasting and also gets that way from a bacterial infection. You don't have to use your best wines, but don't use undrinkable garbage either.

First you need a vinegar "Mother" this is the bacterial culture that turns alcohol into vinegar. An easy cheap way to get one is to buy some "live" unfiltered cider vinegar from a health food store. I think one name is Bragg's cider vinegar. If you can get a "Mother" from someone who has a good one it will be better than starting with a raw vinegar. You can also buy a "Mother" from some wine and homebrew supply stores.

Pour this into a large, 1 gallon or larger, wide mouth jar. Then pour in up to the same amount of wine/alcoholic beverage, never add more wine than you have starter or the vinegar will take forever to process. If possible shake the wine to get a lot of air mixed in before adding. This will help give the bacteria an oxygen boost.

Cover the jar top with a piece of thin cloth such as a bandana, held on with a large rubber band. This will keep out fruit flies, also called vinegar flies, but allow air in. Then stick the jar in a dark place that is around 60-70 degrees and leave it alone for awhile. A month or so. After this you can gently add more wine every week or so.

You don't want to jostle the vinegar because if you do the "Mother" that is growing on top will sink and drown. This slows down the process and can over time cause off tastes from the drowned and dead "Mother". The mother can get very thick, 1, 2, even 3 inches. When my jar starts to get full and also full of mother I take out the mother and squeeze the vinegar out of it over a very large bowl. This is a nasty slimy weird job but the mother is 99% vinegar and the best part to use for starting more vinegar. Some people describe "Mother" from red wine as looking like placenta / afterbirth. A somewhat accurate description.

Every now and then you can pour out a quart or so of vinegar. Filter through first a bandana then if you want a coffee filter. At this point you can either:

Put in a sealed jar and let it sit for at least a month or six, to take off the raw edge. Then filter again and you can use it. This will be a lightly filtered live vinegar.

Or you can put in a mason / ball jar and process at 165 degrees for ten minutes. Then let it sit and age for a month or six to mellow it out. Then filter and use. This will give you a vinegar that is dead and will not age as fast but will be more like commercial vinegar.

You can use any low alcohol beverage such as wine- red, white, desert wines, saki, beer- any decent type but it will only be as good as what you start with, hard cider, fruit wine, champagne, sherry, port, etc.

Commercial vinegar is watered down to about 5% acid, the vinegar you make will have apx. the same acid content as the alcohol content was in your starting liquid. A wine of 11% alcohol will make a vinegar of 11% acidity. You can dilute the vinegar but I use it straight and take allowances in my recipe or use.

Ear cleaning for cats and dogs

To clean the outer ear use a cotton swab moistened with hydrogen peroxide or olive oil. Start this process while they are still young. Praise them when your finished, and give them a treat, This will make them comfortable with the process.  Grooming is easiest and least traumatic if your cat is looking for attention or feeling sleepy. A cat who in an energetic or playful mood is more likely to struggle and scratch during grooming. If your cat won't cooperate for the cleaning, get a second person to help hold her, using minimal restraint wrap cat in a towel leaving head out, while reassuring it with petting, remembering the more restraint used will cause the cat to become less cooperative and increasingly inclined to claw to escape. Dogs are usually better behaved and usually wont have to use the towel technique. Do you have a technique to share? Leave a comment. Thanks ya'll.

Recession proof your animal's health

Recession proof your animal's. I will be sharing tips and hints on how to keep your animals healthy through hard times. Along the way i have also found organic way's to treat flea's. I found a veterinarian that let me bring stool sample instead of paying for visit and i don't have to freak my cat out with a unnecessary trip in the car. It took several calls before i found this vet to help me. so don't give up! It will pay off. The same vet let me bring in one kitten and gave me medicine for the other's. If you have helpful hint's please share. Thanks for reading ya'll.
